Tech Lead / Architect (Python / React)
We’re building a US-based, impact-driven technology platform that connects nonprofits and small businesses with skilled volunteers. We’re looking for a Tech Lead / Architect who will take full ownership of the platform’s technical direction and architecture.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys shaping architecture, making key technical decisions, and building scalable, reliable systems with real social impact.
Important: This position is open exclusively to candidates physically located in the United States.
Location: United States (US-based candidates only)
Format: 100% Remote
Schedule: Flexible; availability required for a regular meeting at 4:00 PM EST
Responsibilities:

Own the platform’s architecture and long-term technical strategy.

Spend approximately 70% of your time on hands-on development.

Design, build, and optimize APIs, data flows, and system integrations.

Lead integrations with OpenAI API, Klaviyo, and SendGrid.

Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Render).

Ensure performance, scalability, security, and reliability.

Conduct code reviews and mentor engineers.

Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver impactful solutions.
Background and required skills:

5+ years of experience in software engineering.

2+ years in a Tech Lead, Architect, or similar leadership role.

Strong hands-on experience with Python / Django and React.

Proven experience designing scalable architectures and driving technical decisions.

Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, API design, and system integrations.

Strong background with Amazon Web Services (AWS); experience with Render is a plus.

Confidence with DevOps practices (CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, monitoring).

English proficiency: B2–C1.

Structured, proactive, able to mentor and set engineering standards.

Ready to act as the key technical owner of the platform.
